Most of the Central Valley, especially Fresno, Kern and Tulare can expect air quality to worsen for this week to come. This is from winds continually blowing smoke from major fires in Northern CA to the Central Valley and even South CA. The air quality range of moderate/unhealthy for certain groups has now shifted into the unhealthy category just for today.
There are at least 5 major active wildfires (Dixie, Antelope, Caldor, Monument, and McFarland) in California. Except for McFarland, all of them are way under 50% containment. So while the wildfires won’t be going anywhere anytime soon, a change of winds would probably be the only factor to improve air quality for the Central Valley.
