Q Christian Fellowship

Q Christian as an organization is a diverse community with varied backgrounds, cultures, theologies and denominations. They recognize that the church has not and does not always make it easy for those who identify as lesbian, gay, transgender, bisexual, same gender loving, queer, intersex, gender fluid or questioning to reconcile these aspects of themselves with their Christian identity. Q Christian promotes a “radical sense of belonging”, and prophetically models a world where all LGBTQ+ people are fully loved by family, church, and community, and Christians worldwide live up to their calling to be instruments of grace and defenders of the outcasts.

This organization is run by and catered towards those people of faith who identify both as LGBTQ+ and a Christian. Emphasis here on those identifying as both because we all know that there are closeted, and/or self hating, repressive LGBTQ+ people out there that suppress their LGBTQ+ identity for an oppressive church or denomination. These poor souls falsely believe that being LGBTQ+ is incompatible with Christianity. That couldn’t be any more false. As a counter to the harm that those “churches” have inflicted (and still do), Q Christian started an initiative known as Unchanged.

Q Christian also has an annual conference. The location of which changes every year. It usually takes place every January. The dates for the next one is in 2021 starting on January 7th in Albuquerque, New Mexico. I have heard really good things about this conference and if you are a person of faith I can recommend it. Here is some more copy from their website about the conference.

The Q Christian Fellowship Conference is an annual gathering where hundreds of LGBTQ+ Christians and Allies gather for worship, fellowship, workshops, and keynote speakers; make lifelong friendships or reunite with those friends; experience healing, transformation, and hope; witness the thrill of God’s love and affirmation through each other.

I am so thankful for the work they do and the cause they represent. Numerous churches, denominations, and religions have sullied the idea of God for generations of gay people of faith. Theses churches have spread the lie that God hates gays and Q Christian Fellowship helps dispel that misinformation, and does it especially for LGBTQ+ people who have been damaged by that propaganda. It’s not rocket science — God loves everyone. I say this as a “former atheist” who had thought that God was as hateful as most organized religions and denominations advertised Him to be.
