Wesley D. Cox has passed away at 91

It’s with a respectful and heavy heart that I pass this along. Wesley D. Cox, a speech pathologist and resident of Porterville, passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021. He was 91 years of age.

Private services to be held at a later date. Myers Funeral Service & Crematory is in charge of the arrangements. Online condolences may be made to the family by clicking the button below and making the jump.

Mr. Cox was a Charter Member of the Tulare County Stonewall Democrats club and I’m sure will be greatly missed.

We are continuing to give free memberships to the new Gay Central Valley during the COVID-19 pandemic. This invitation will expire in the next few months as our Valley continues to travel the road to recovery.

Community UCC in Fresno

One of the things that I have found very pleasant in the last decade are the numbers of inclusive and gay-friendly churches and ministries that have sprouted up all over Fresno and the Central Valley. I sat in as a visitor on one of the video services for the Community United Church of Christ. I’ve visited the church before when they were in the midst of a pastoral transition. They have found a new pastor and it looks like she started back in May of this year. Here is their mission statement…

Community UCC is an inclusive and progressive Christian church doing social justice, environmental faithfulness, interfaith collaboration and spiritual formation to help ourselves and others grow in faith, hope and love.

Here is the recorded video of their last Sunday service…
